  Women Can Do That?
I just got through reading a narrative between Rubel B. and Wes discussing the controversial role of women in the church. I have to admit, just the thought of getting up in front of a bible school class where I attend worship and announcing to the audience this particular topic makes me nervous. After reading the discussion, I was enlightened by what I learned. First of all, both men discussed the topic with a sense of humility, simply seeking truth. Both agreed they differed with each other and were not the final say-so on the topic. I appreciate the way they approached the topic citing scripture which seemed to support servant leadership for both male and female and emphasizing that neither male nor female should "lord" over each other in carrying out responsibilities either. If nothing else happens, my neurons and syntax has been tickled causing me to be more open-minded to church issues that tend to divide us. Women DO have a role in the kingdom and gender will have nothing to do with salvation come judgement day. More study to come, at least on my part. If you want to read the same dialogue, get in touch with Mr. Shelly or David U and I'm sure they could forward a copy of it to you.

Comments:
Hey Brother, I concur with you 100% on your thoughts concerning this sermon we read. I am not sure where I am going with all of this, but I have confidence in HIM leading me thru this study. I know we are impacted greatly by culture and tradition, and neither of those are going away anytime soon.

I am glad you felt challenged by what they had to say, and I know you will be blessed in your study.

Your brother,
David

Just got an update from Highland that Mike Cope is promising to deliver his "longest sermon ever" on the subject, this Sunday. That'll be an interesting one to have on tape, I'll bet!

And here's a page with a Wednesday night study series by John Mark Hicks, too.
