  Olympic Memories from my Couch
I know I will automatically turn on the TV to NBC tonite to see who is in the finals. Even after watching parts of the closing ceremonies, (when I should have been doing dishes for my wife), my sports information instincts will kick in sometime this evening. I thought the Olympics were good. The coverage gets better every broadcast. I especially love that camera that races along side the sprinters! What about the Brazilian marathoner who was attacked by the former Irish priest while in stride and probably cost him the gold medal! Not only did he finish the race in 3rd to recieve the bronze, he came flying in mimicking an airplane landing. What a great attitude. This guy's dream of gold was erased by a lunatic and he smiled as he crossed the finish line. Wow, what lessons were in that demonstration of courage for me to absorb. I would still be yelling victim remarks and he seemed to have forgiven him already. Would the media please leave Paul Hamm alone? All he did was compete and he is chastised for recieving a medal. It wasn't like he asked for the medal,(John Kerry). He didn't purchase the reward. He simply competed. This particular judicial mistake was simply magnified because an American was awarded a medal. Scoring problems have in the past and will in the future affect the outcome of every sporting event and will forever be scrutinized but in simpliest terms...its part of the games. Live with it. The athletes positions could have been reversed and Paul Hamm left out of a medal. Would he and the coaches then be seeking litigation to push for a prize? I would like to think not. He was fun to cheer for and seems to also have a great attitude. The olympics are indeed over and the Hogs play this Saturday. Can hardly wait. I even went to a New Mexico Aggie website to find out what they think about the Hogs as an opponent. I almost gave up on finding anything about NM football. They don't have much to cheer about. There was an article though about the head coach punching out the film guy last week when their joint viewing of game film became tense. Maybe he was nervous about playing the Hogs. Have a great week. By the way, where are the olympics in 2008?

  My First Blog
During the summer, I read 2 Grisham books, The King of Torts and The Testament, and discovered how much I would enjoy writing. For those of you who don't know me, all 5 billion of you, I am not a reader and Dave will testify to that. I don't know of anyone, though ,who would pick up a Grisham and not become drawn into the story that he plays out with a pen. He is a fun author to read. I am now almost finished with The Summons and the reading just gets better. This blog will be my attempt to live out my newfound enjoyment of reading and writing. I enjoy thouroughly reading Copes blog and find it inspirational. Dave has a good blog as well and my focus is always better after going both places. If anyone stumbles across this blog of mine, drop a line of encouragement, share a sports thought, and experience, or a let-down. There is no agenda here. My hope is that in sharing with others of like experiences I will grow to love my God more and enjoy life a little more each day.
